Making Places

Competition Entry

Public Space, Community Design

Proposal formed as part of the Making Places competition held by Waltham Forest council. By activating the site, the aim was to create an inspiring, sensory space for reading, discussion and performance, and a place the community want to spend time in. Extending the existing curved wall on site, space is create for a small sunken ‘theatre’ which can be used for performances, projections, workshops and discussions. Continuing the curved shapes, the site is dotted with a series of multi purpose object typologies which can be used for seating or play.

In collaboration with Émilie Loiseleur.

Inspired by the architecture of the library building and the curved wall to the rear of the site, the curved motif is used across the site to tie together different elements of the design, creating pathways and areas for planting. Continuing this language, the site is dotted with a series of multi purpose object typologies which can be used for seating or play.
